EU SatCom Market (ESM) is a framework contract with the European Defence Agency (EDA) , which Airbus have been working on since 2012. 

In 2020, Airbus won the renewal of this satellite communications framework contract for military and civil use by the European Union and its member states. The European Defence Agency (EDA) awarded Airbus with this four-year framework contract renewal to protect key communications services and surveillance data against any outside interference. The project itself, which Airbus operates alongside Marlink, is estimated to be worth tens of millions of euros.

What is EU SatCom Market?

The overall purpose of the project is to provide the 33 Contributing Members* with an option to commercially source Satellite Communications (SatCom) services through the EDA.

The SatCom services offer includes end-to-end services with transmission links as well as SatCom terminals for all commercial bands. This whole range of services provided through the EU SatCom Market project can enable users to access, store, transmit, receive and manipulate information required to meet a wide range of operational needs, both abroad and at home.

What is EU SatCom Market Day?

On the 27 September, Airbus hosted the EU SatCom Market Day gathering together about 30 contributing members.

As part of the contract, this yearly event is held on our Airbus Defence and Space site in Toulouse, France and aims to increase customer awareness on the Secure Communications portfolio and innovations through a market place and success stories.

This event provides an opportunity to maintain a close relationship with our customers and collect their feedback.
