Airbus deploys the Unclassified Communications Network for the benefits of the EU Military Training Mission in the Central African Republic through the EU SatCom Market CIS framework contract.

Launched in March 2015, the European Union Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) is a European Union multinational training mission headquartered in Bangui, Central African Republic.

The EUTM RCA has contributed to the restructuring of the Defence sector of the Central African Republic (CAR) in three domains: strategic advice, operational training and education. 

In December 2022, Airbus won the contract for the deployment of the unclassified network in Bangui for the benefit of the EUTM RCA. This contract was awarded by the European Defence Agency (EDA) within the EU SatCom Market Communication and Information Systems (CIS) framework service contract.

The network deployment has been achieved in December 2024 and offers a wide range of services among:

  • Local Area Network ensuring e-mail services, Internet access, Voice over IP,
  • PMR radio communications network deployed over different sites,
  • Videoconferencing connecting different devices.

All these services are provided along with Cybersecurity services and on-field support.

With EU SatCom Market CIS contract, Airbus extends its service scope from satellite to terrestrial network and communication services to the benefits of the EUTM RCA.

 

European Union Satellite Communications Market

EU Satcom Market CIS Services (EUSM CIS) is a project aiming to supply integrated telecommunication services with radio and IT networks and related products to European Union Member states, European Union Agencies and civil and military missions. 

The overall purpose of the EUSM CIS contracts is to efficiently and cost effectively provide Contributing Members with an option to commercially source wider Communication and Information Systems (CIS) services through the EDA.
