We have been awarded the renewal of the KFTS by NCI Agency (NATO's procurement agency). The system provides near real-time awareness of NATO KFOR (Nato Kosovo Force) ground-based force elements, which remains a mission essential capability.
After having awarded Airbus with the NATO Friendly Forces Interfaces (NFFI) contract for the Afghanistan network in Kabul, NCIA renewed the KFTS in Kosovo.
The KFTS system provides near real-time awareness of KFOR ground-based force elements, which remains a mission essential capability. KFTS shows Commanders and Operators at the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) in Pristina HQ, a current operational picture, position tracking of friendly troops and positions viewed by the different command levels. It also includes the capability to exchange messages. The information is transmitted via the NATO TETRAPOL network or by Satellite.
KFOR requires the replacement of the current system (IMPACT), delivered in 2006, by a new solution using Fortion® Tactical C2, along with the procurement of new hardware, to ensure continuity of the mission. The recent stop of GAN (Global Area Network) services also implies the retrofit of some equipment in order to keep the tracking ability through INMARSAT Satellite Communication.
The delivery of the renewal system is planned for October 2019.
