New Decade, new Opportunities, new Challenges

The new decade brings with it new opportunities and new challenges to address aero connectivity in the combat cloud. Since the launch of this Blog, we have discussed a wide range of topics around the crucial importance of Aero Connectivity in today and tomorrow’s defence world. We will continue to address key topics of discussion such as Interoperability in Joint Forces, and the cutting edge technology needed to achieve end to end security and resilience.

But now is the perfect time to recap and reflect on the advances made so far in delivering true airborne connectivity with Network for the Sky (NFTS).

Since the launch of NFTS in 2018, there have been a number of milestone achievements driven by understanding, developing and demonstrating an improved aero capability with our customers’ ambitions in mind.

What’s Next? 2020 Focus

Having developed and demonstrated all these capabilities, the obvious question is what’s next? David Kingdon-Jones, the project lead for Network for the Sky defines our next phase .

“We will continue to build on our successes and focus on developing solutions for the future of secure airborne connectivity with our customers. 2020 is a very important year for us. We are a leading player in the market, with unmatched expertise, and will continue to build on our strong foundations of capability and competence to create and deliver ‘best-in-class’ end to end services for our customers."

Our focus this year is to continue our customer engagement. To understand current platform capability and how it can be used to its full potential.

We appreciate that with new services and technology, seeing is believing is extremely important, and will continue to demonstrate new customer-driven capabilities through our Centre of Excellence facility in Madrid.

We will also see the continuation of the integral role of NFTS in combat cloud and the Future Combat Air System (FCAS).

This year will be exciting. The customer has seen the future, and as industry experts it is our role to deliver the future multi-domain battlefield, they so desire.

Look out for the next edition of the blog to get the latest insights and news from the Network for the Sky project.
