Airbus is proud to have supported the Row 4 Victory team in the Atlantic Challenge which ended on 21st January 2019.
The team of 4 from Yorkshire rowed 3000 miles from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua & Barbuda. The team was made up of a Royal Engineer, an ex-Royal Marine, a civilian and a serving Chief Technician in the RAF. They were competing against 27 other teams from around the world. The team also raised money for The Royal British Legion and Soldier On!
The 4 man team rowed 2-hour shifts in pairs 24 hours a day. They contended with waves measuring over 20ft high, sleep deprivation, adverse weather and hunger throughout the duration of the race - which started on 12th December 2018.
Airbus has supplied the team with 2 Iridium handsets – 1 to use to stay in contact with the race organisers and 1 to call home to family and friends.
Fraser Mowlem, Will Quarmby, Duncan Roy and Glyn Sadler have finally made it to their destination in Antigua and finished in 5th place.
